I'm trying to get a billet flywheel/clutch combo that will handle 600tq at the crank on my project (V6 Turbo Firebird, yes I'm an idiot, go away).

Most US companies don't really offer any support for the V6 F-body, let alone at that power level. Most of them said "NOPE" when I asked if I could get a clutch to handle that power.

Cue the Australians. You see, they love to make V6's fast. A Grand National would be revered over there probably more than here. I found a company named NPC that makes a nice setup, here's a couple pics they'd e-mailed me:

Coyote V8 dual plate 10.5" clutch and billet steel flywheel good for 800rwhp:

This was on their single plate, 6 button ceramic clutch kit:

I'm gonna have to save up for this lol!

Dare I ask what this upgrade will run? Would it be cheaper-ish to upgrade two more cylinders and components that can handle it?

Strictly curiosity - not judging, not my money, do not care.

Won't go with a V8, really working on small displacement FI stuff and have had an end goal of turbocharging this V6. I blame my dad. First race car I remember as a kid in his shop was a Buick Grand National.

The race block and turbo only cost me $2K The clutch/flywheel combo will cost almost as much, but you have to pay that much for LSx power levels anyway. I need the clutch setup to handle 600hp/tq at the crank safely while still offering streetability, hence the costs.

I'm not out to beat up on imports or V8's. I'm just pushing some limits is all and wanting to have some fun doing it. I'm having to do the research, I'm having to do the work. I'm not just going to some company, giving them my credit card info and then getting some generic performance package. In the end, I'll be able to take credit for researching, designing and building it.

I've learned a lot along the way. This isn't my first time modding this car, it's just the next (il)logical step :P

Puck clutches... *shutters*

After trying to DD and race on multiple clutches now, I will say that even though the cost is usually VERY high dual-disc full-face clutches are the way to go. Hell I like my dual-disc better than the stock clutch/flywheel setup.

Props to you for finding a supplier! It is pretty ridiculous how hard it is to get parts in the US for cars that don't have a V8. Here I am just wanting a JDM 22B.

That should be awesome when you're done. Plus, you'll have something that no one else has. Or at the very least is extremely rare. Thanks for sharing. Hope you keep us updated.

Thanks :)

It will be interesting to say the least. I get a lot of "What's done to your LS1? Sounds nice."

Then the look on their face is usually surprise when I tell them it's just a V6. I got it enough that I decided to get a plate:

Thanks! Yeah, I don't want to go with a puck clutch, it's a bit of an off/on setup and the one pictured was used on a Holden that was seeing a lot of Hill Climb and circuit time trials.

I'm a bit particular about the way this car drives, I don't want it to attract too much attention and having to rev it high to get it to roll from a stop or if it chirps the tires at part throttle clutch engagement just will not cut it. Local police are all over that like flies on stink.

I'm pushing the power levels on the 3800, only a few have been or are at the projected output I'm going to see. Only one with a T-56 conversion right now, so I hope it turns into a match made in heaven.
